Blair Hodges, Host at Relationscapes Podcast
Blair Hodges, host of the Relationscapes podcast, uses Alice to make every episode accessible, accurate and ready to publish. As a longtime communications professional and storyteller, Blair wanted a transcription tool that could keep up with the nuances of real conversation, something previous tools like Otter and Descript couldn’t deliver.
With Alice, he found a faster, more reliable way to turn audio into high-quality text. What once took hours to edit now takes less than half the time, helping Relationscapes publish SEO-friendly, inclusive transcripts with confidence.
I use Alice strictly for transcribing podcast episodes. I host Relationscapes and I highly value accessibility and SEO, so posting transcripts is a must.
I upload my audio, let Alice do its work, then I hide the timestamps and download the transcript as a .docx file.
In Word I edit the formatting. (Adjusting headers and spaces between linebreaks, etc.).
Then I take what Alice gave me and feed about 900 words at a time into ChatGPT with very specific instructions about smoothing things out. Spoken language has a lot of false starts and stumbles, so I use ChatGPT to clean that up for readability's sake. I have to be very careful and monitor what chatgpt is doing because sometimes it starts going haywire and making stuff up or consolidating ideas rather than doing a transcript. But that saves me hours of editing work. It probably takes about 2 hours to fully edit an Alice transcript for publishing, but with ChatGPT it takes about 40 minutes.
Then I post the text on my website.
I was using a popular service and it was really messy. It was very bad at detecting sentence structure, so punctuation and capitalization was a disaster. I tried a few other things and then Alice showed up. I don't even recall where I heard about it. I did a free trial and the quality was way ahead.
It used to take more hours to edit. I even used to pay someone to do some of the editing, which wasn't ideal.
Pretty easy. My work is fairly basic.
Alice is much better at detecting the beginning and ending of sentences, and discerning different accents, especially Black speakers, compared to other things I've used. It gives a more accurate transcription overall than anything I have tried.
Alice is the most accurate AI transcription service I have ever used. As a podcaster, it helps me get my episode transcripts ready in time, every time.
There you go! Lemme know when the extra time can be added!
With Alice, Relationscapes transformed its transcription workflow, reducing editing time by more than half while improving sentence accuracy, accessibility, and inclusivity across speakers and accents.
